6th Street

An active group of resident planners has been leading the vision for the nearly 5-acre Sixth Street property adjacent to IX Park. Working with architect Grimm + Parker, residents helped shape a master plan that ensures new housing and community spaces reflect their priorities.

Phase 1 includes a four-story building with 47 one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes, open play space, and a community health clinic. The project received Low Income Housing Tax Credits in March 2022, and construction began in Spring 2025. Demolition of the 707 building was completed in July 2025, and site preparation is underway, including utility work and stormwater management.

The project is expected to be complete in early 2027. Residents continue to guide design decisions and are actively planning for Phase 2, which is targeting a 2027 tax credit application.
