Working with architect Grimm + Parker, residents helped shape a master plan that ensures new housing and community spaces reflect their priorities. Phase 1 includes a four-story building with 47 one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes, open play space, and a community health clinic. The project received Low Income Housing Tax Credits in March 2022, and construction began in Spring 2025. Demolition of the 707 building was completed in July 2025, and site preparation is underway, including utility work and stormwater management. The project is expected to be complete in early 2027. Hands-on activities prepare residents to make informed planning decisions and select an architect to help draft a Master Plan. On March 13, residents reached consensus on a Master Plan design after nearly three years of work. The plan will double the number of affordable homes with a mix of townhomes and apartments, while creating four times more usable outdoor community space. The engineering team is now preparing the site plan for a 2026 LIHTC application. Meanwhile, residents are also actively voicing concerns about a proposed large-scale development on West Main that conflicts with their goals of neighborhood scale, safety, and connectivity.
